A Few Short Thoughts... 1 John 1:1-4

John testifies that Jesus walked the earth as a real person who could be touched and felt. Jesus is not just a good man or a moral teacher. Jesus is the very Word of Life, the Eternal Life, the sacrificial Lamb of God. John testifies that the disciples examined Him first hand. Having examined Him first hand and truly knowing Him, John and the other disciples proclaim Him as the only source of eternal life. The apostles proclaim Him for the benefit and joy of those who hear. The basis of Christian fellowship is Jesus Christ and apart from Jesus, there is no true fellowship. Our love of others demands that we proclaim Jesus to them.

1 John 1:1-4 (ESV) - "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete."
